Deb and Steve met, as teenagers, working at IHOP where Steve started as Deb’s busboy. They fell in love, their relationship grew and then they married. They had children early and focused on family life. Throughout their years together, their passion for the culinary arts grew along with their dream to open a restaurant together.

In 1980, they opened their first restaurant, known as “K’s Friends & Family”. Unfortunately, they closed it after five years and decided to instead concentrate on their personal careers. They both left the restaurant industry. Steve went back to the retail industry and became a District Manager, whereas Deb went back to a career she loved, in college chemistry. They worked very hard in their careers and in 2008, celebrating their 30th Anniversary, they took a trip to Europe, falling in Love with the Cafe and Pubs of France and England. They later returned to the States wishing that they could find a similar establishment to those they had fallen in love with overseas… A place where people could enjoy & appreciate wine in a fun, comfortable environment. Thus the seed for Ballou’s was planted.

Ballou’s welcomes you to come and experience our hospitality. We have an Award Winning Wine menu that boasts more than eighty wines by the glass. Our eclectic food menu is paired with our wines. We have both cheese and chocolate fondue and everything from Paninis to Pasta and delicious Salads. Try one our “Wine Flights” any three wines by the glass. We continue to redefine our menu and decided to bring in Spirits as of September 2018. We have “Sippers” from around the world and Timeless Cocktails.
